change the diagphram on between the gas tank and carburetor and it will run fine. it’s a gasket between the gas tank and carburetor, cost is about five dollars or so .

you flywheel key is sheared a little bit and its throwing the ignition timing off to the magneto form the magnets on the fly wheel.

The older models are pretty much indestructible as long as you take care of them, its sad that briggs and stratton cheaped out with the newer ones, these newer models are nowhere as reliable as the old ones.

Gotta love a Briggs, those things run like champs for just about ever, the only problems I have seen with any was user error.

do you have an aircleaner on it if not do you have the air cover screw in it if not thats the proboblem its not creating the right suction in the carburetor with the screw out

i think maybe you should clean the carb, put new air filter, and the right kind of oil for that mower; since its a older model. maybe you should change the gas and put new in

its running like that cuzz you need to clean the carb first check the valves and see if the itake valve is burnt or the exhaust valve cuzz that will throw the timing off a little or realy bad, other then that your fuel mixture is to rich
