Because BMW’s are as ” AMAZING” as they are UNRELIABLE and expensive to maintain unlike Hondas which take all the abuse and just keep on rolling.

I thought BMW’s known for making high performance engines. Why swap it with a Honda v-tech engine? =/

Alot of complaints on swapping different engines on different car brands. Its called DIFFERENT TASTE! So what if its better than this or that. I agree this is an odd swap, but interesting, & thats what makes it unique.

this e36 is badd ass and so is the hi revv honda engine. i think its the perfect combo. lighter weight, same hp and that vtech sound which is unmistakable. now only if i can understand what they are saying.

@Philx4xFar well if the germans wanted to build an engine like this, they could…..bmw spent alot of time perfecting it the way they would want it but in MY opinion which i have a right to say i disagree
yes honda makes extremely reliable engines but im pretty sure if thats what bmw was out there for they could do the same exact thing, but they are for the “ultimate driving machine” not “most reliable driving machine” kinda get what im saying?

my friend has experienced failure with the double vanos system. vtecs have never had a failure. interesting….but bmw n honda both make the greatest engines. but people argue in here about the end of the world if vtec goes into a bimmer. so fucking what…

@ohai2u you made the point… its a 2litre =P
ohai2u @
3:10 pm
@petervsays granted the 318 has the shitty m42 so it’s not that bad, but still why swap out a 3.5 liter i6 for a little high revving 2 liter. just seems pointless. watch a s52 destroy that thing. and I like the f20c just not in an e36. the japanese are always just dropping random import motors into random cars just because they are import motors. it gets annoying. same as I wouldn’t want to see a small block chevy in a s2000

@ohai2u why do you car? its automotive engineering.

How much do one of those engines cost?

@jtq007 – Okay, this particular car isn’t ideal. But Japan and Germany make some of the best cars on the planet, why would both of them combined be a disgrace?
I mean, what would happen if the Japanese and the Germans got together and built a car? They would build something no yank manufacturer could dream of out-doing..
