How to fix Briggs & Stratton engine?
Briggs & Stratton magnetron engine will not start - will start with starter fluid - won't keep running though. Replaced gas & spark plug, checked gas line...I think it must be something simple, but what? It's just got a few years service on it.

sounds like it isn’t getting fuel!
Frustrating huh? My mower would start and shut off after a few seconds. Tried everything, finally cleaned the air filter with some Dawn, rinsed it out. Put it on and she started right up. You might have a dirty carburator too.
An engine that wont run is not getting one or more of the three things it needs; gas air and a spark. If yours is running with starter fluid, that means air and spark are probably not your problem. If you know the gas is good and the line is clear, that points to a problem with the carburetor. You can clean it yourself if you take your time and don’t lose any tiny parts. Carb cleaner spray is available at any auto parts place.
good luck
