PART 2 How to modify the variator and clutch assembly on a GY6 Engine with sliders
This is part 2 of 2 showing how to modify that variator and driven clutch on a GY6 150cc go kart engine. In our case it is for a Helix 150cc go cart. This part deals with the driven clutch assembly. We replace the main clutch spring. See part one for dealing with the variator.

It is not a night and day difference at all. Whether or not you would want to do this depends on your riding style. We eventually took these mods back off because on our flat track, we didn’t gain anything. If we were doing trails with a lot of hills it would be an advantage. For us and our flat track, exhaust and air intake mods are a lot better bang for the buck. Again, it depends on your riding style.
is it a big difference? please reply because im looking for a project to do.
this is the best video on youtube, really shows how to do it well. I know what you mean when you say about the torquing of the flat nut. I didn’t do this properly and the clutch exploded and then the tranmission rollers melted and then the splines on the crank rounded off. I think it it 60Nm standard torque for that nut.
pretty good!!!
im soooo doin this!
